Often in work, we find ourselves in a moment where we can’t seem to move forward. We end up staring at the screen, unsure of how to proceed with our work. This can happen to software developers who encounter a particularly difficult bug to solve or face complex choices in creating a software architecture. It can happen to a social media manager who needs to write a new post or to a writer who needs to start a new page. In all these cases, it would be nice to have someone nearby who can support us, help us, and provide new ideas to think through and overcome the block we’re facing. This is where generative artificial intelligence can be useful.
For example, when we find ourselves stuck, we can open a chat session with tools like ChatGPT, BARD, Bing Chat, or any other similar software, and start inputting a description of the problem and the point where we’re stuck. From there, we can receive interesting arguments, different perspectives, and all sorts of things that can help us unlock and move forward. It’s important not to expect these tools to always provide us with ready-made solutions to the problem, but rather to use them as a brainstorming method to generate new ideas, new perspectives, and reflections.
Perhaps, through continued dialogue with Chat GPT or any other generate AI tool, we can gradually arrive at the solution we’re seeking.
